The objective of the interim working group is to promote the SDGs and raise awareness on the UN Global Compact.
In a major step towards strengthening UN Global Compact (UNGC) initiative in Saudi Arabia, UN Resident Coordinator Nathalie Fustier kicked off the first UNGC Interim Working Group meeting today, bringing together Ahmed Faried Mustapha Consultants Office, Ahmed Mohammed Abdul Wahab Naghi & Sons Co, ENGIE, King Khalid Foundation, Napco National, SABIC and Saudi Green Building Forum.
The United Nation’s Global Compact is the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. It is a non-binding United Nations pact to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, and to report on their implementation.
The UN Global Compact is a principle-based framework for businesses, stating ten principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption. Under the Global Compact, companies are brought together with UN agencies, labor groups and civil society.
The objective of the interim working group is to promote the SDGs and raise awareness on the UN Global Compact, and to support the establishment of a Global Compact Local Network in Saudi Arabia.
“Throughout this partnership with UN Global Compact, we will be able to mobilize a movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders in Saudi Arabia which will contribute to the achievement of the SDGs” UN RCO Ms. Nathalie Fustier highlighted during the kickoff meeting.
