The consultative workshop helped improve the country’s draft report on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 25 years.
ESCWA Centre for Women organised a two-day national consultative workshop, on 10-11 April 2019 in Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in cooperation with the Family Affairs Council, to prepare the national review on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 25 years.
The consultative workshop helped improve the country’s draft report on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 25 years based on the relevant Guidance Note. The discussion of the report by the members of the drafting team and representatives of the relevant authorities and civil society, helped validate the existent information and agree on needed data and their sources.
This technical assistance is part of ESCWA's efforts to support Arab States in their preparations for national reviews on the progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action twenty-five years after its adoption. ESCWA, in partnership with UN Women and the League of Arab States, will be consolidating the 22 national reports into a regional one. The regional report will be presented during the upcoming 64th Session of the Committee on the Status of Women in March 2020 in New York.
