The Launch of the National SDG Data Webinar
The webinar aims to equip and facilitate the interconnectedness between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and relevant data custodians.
His Excellency, Faisal Alibrahim, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Economy and Planning and Her Excellency Nathalie Fustier, United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, today launched the first National SDG Data Webinar.
The National SDG Data Webinar was developed in partnership with the Ministry of Economy and Planning with aims to equip and facilitate the interconnectedness between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and relevant data custodians. Improving data availability and accurate reporting in global data repositories for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will better showcase the exemplary progress the Kingdom has made in recent years.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's next Voluntary National Review will be in July 2023. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made unprecedented transformations over the past seven years. By having a robust picture of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's sustainable development progress, the country will be able to better document its remarkable progress since its last Voluntary National Review, as well as its strategy for the proceeding seven years as it approaches 2030.
More than 70 government entities and international organizations gathered to take part in the webinar. The webinar focused on data in the United Nations Statistics Division Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) repository and data used by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network's 2022 Sustainable Development Report. The webinar will also help prepare the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2023 Sustainable Development Report by updating and having relevant data prepared for the Sustainable Development Solutions Network public data forum in the Spring of 2023.
The webinar will focus on three areas affecting data availability:
- Unreported Data (Data that is not yet publicly available);
- Outdated Data (Data that is not being updated frequently);
- Inconsistent Values with International Reports
- Data that is being reported in national repositories but is not being reported in global data repositories and
- Data that is inaccurately reported in global repositories).
